Never a soft touch:positive change on FGM in Scotland

Thursday 9 August, 1:30-2:30pm | Tickets £9/£7(conc), New Town Theatre, 96 George Street,

‘Never a Soft Touch’ presents a mix of poetry, personal stories and presentation, raising awareness of FGM and highlighting action taking place in Scotland to tackle it.

Presented by Jerusalem Barnabas (Waverley Care) and Oonagh O’Brien (Queen Margaret University), the event will also look at the work of My Voice – a joint research project engaging with communities affected by FGM to bring about positive change.

The session will be useful for staff and volunteers working with communities in Scotland from FGM-practising countries – raising awareness of the facts and cultural sensitivities that surround FGM.

The event is part of the Cabaret of Dangerous Ideas – a programme of events focusing on a broad range of health and social policy issues.
