WSP Training and Events

Multi-Agency Training

The Women’s Support Project organises occasional multi-agency training and events on a range of violence against women issues. These events aim to raise awareness of the cause, extent, impact of violence against women, and to increase worker’s confidence in identifying and responding to violence.

In-house Training & Events

We offer the following `level 1` training programmes:

Gender based violence
Understanding gender, gender inequality and the causes of violence against women

Childhood sexual abuse
Definitions, extent, why children don’t tell, key awareness messages for children, services and resources.

Grooming for sexual exploitation: being aware of danger signs
The process of grooming, common means of grooming, warning signs, extent, services and resources

Supporting women whose children have been sexually abused
Understanding the needs of non-abusing parents, and the potential impact of child sexual abuse on the wider family

Implications of new technologies: are your policies up to date?
Potential implications of new technologies for your organisation, with a focus on child protection policy and internet use policy.

Raising awareness of the harm caused through prostitution
Definitions; causes and contributory factors; extent of the problem; current approaches; services and resources

Cost: £300 per half day session / £500 per full day session

We are happy to discuss additional training services, including:

• Training for implementing routine enquiry
• ‘Level 2’ training courses, such as working with survivors of sexual abuse

Training for Trainers

We can offer ‘training for trainers’ courses designed for people with some training experience, for example, trainers from child protection, adult support and protection, and equality and diversity, to build capacity to deliver level 1 training on violence against women.
